Forest and Agro-Forest Nursery Learning Laboratory

Nursery for forest and agro-forest planting stock production; used by the students in producing their required number of seedlings per semester.  It is also being used to conduct the various laboratory exercises on silviculture and agroforestry.

History

The Forests and Agroforests Nursery Learning Laboratory (FANLL) with the name formally given in 1990 was established in the 1980. Initial operation of the nursery was realized when forestry students taking forest nursery and plantation forestry courses could no longer bring to the Central Forest Experiment Station (CFES) later the MEDF (Makiling Experimental and Demonstration Forest) due to lack of transportation. This nursery was established to provide an accessible instructional nursery for forestry students while at the same time an outlet for various forest tree species for the tree planting market.

Now, FANLL has evolved in mass-producing seedlings from conventional to currently a mixture of conventional and non-conventional techniques. Apart from forest trees, species that are being produced in the FANLL has also been diversified to include the plants and trees for Agroforestry, Urban Forestry, and Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs)
